UHealth – University of Miami Health System has announced that it has been recognized as a top performer by Vizient® in its 2025 Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Ranking. UHealth was one of only five facilities out of dozens participating nationwide to be recognized in this category for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality outpatient care.

“This recognition from Vizient is a testament to the extraordinary work of our entire UHealth team,” said Dipen J. Parekh, M.D., chief executive officer of UHealth and executive vice president for health affairs at the University of Miami. “Delivering the highest standards of quality and accountability in ambulatory care is central to our mission, and this award underscores the dedication, expertise and compassion that our faculty and staff bring to every patient, every day. We are proud to set a national standard for excellence and innovation in academic medicine.”

The awards were announced on Sept. 16 at the 2025 Vizient Connections Summit held in Las Vegas.

Hospital recognitions were determined through the Vizient Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Study, which assesses data from participating facilities to measure performance in five domains: access to care, continuum of care, quality, efficiency and variation in care.

“We are honored to be recognized by Vizient with the Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Award. This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of our physicians, nurses and staff to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care every day,” said Kymberlee J. Manni, Ph.D., chief executive officer of University of Miami Hospital and Clinics. “At UHealth, we are dedicated to advancing quality, safety and innovation across all ambulatory settings, and this award reaffirms the impact of that mission on the lives of the communities we serve.”

The Vizient award adds to UHealth’s national recognitions. In August the health system was honored with the prestigious Magnet with Distinction® from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®, making it the first system in Florida to receive this recognition. The Vizient award further reflects UHealth’s commitment to embedding quality and safety into every aspect of patient care.

“At UHealth, we are constantly striving to improve outcomes, elevate the patient experience and advance innovation in ambulatory care,” said Tanira Ferreira, M.D., chief medical officer of University of Miami Hospital and Clinics and Miller School associate professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. “I am incredibly proud of our teams for setting such a high bar and for ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care at every encounter.”

Roy E. Weiss, M.D., Ph.D., UHealth chief medical officer for ambulatory services and Miller School professor and chair of the Department of Medicine, said the award speaks volumes about UHealth’s commitment to advancing patient care.

“As an academic health system, UHealth is uniquely positioned to transform ambulatory medicine through innovation, research and the training of future physicians,” said Dr. Weiss, who is also the Rabbi Morris I. Esformes Endowed Chair in Medicine and Endocrinology and the Kathleen & Stanley Glaser Distinguished Chair at the Miller School. “This award is reflective of the dedication of our faculty, staff and trainees who work tirelessly to deliver the highest standards of care and assure our patients receive the highest care throughout the continuum of the UHealth experience.”

This year, 66 facilities participated in the performance study for work spanning July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. The composite scoring system uses practice- and patient-level data from the AAMC-Vizient Clinical Practice Solutions Center®, Vizient Access and Throughput data and the Vizient Clinical Data Base.

“Congratulations to the team at UHealth for being recognized as a top performer in the Vizient Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Study,” said David Levine, chief medical officer, Vizient. “This recognition reflects your continued commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and driving excellence in ambulatory performance. Your efforts set a strong example for providers across the country.”
