Dr. Tosti Receives First Fredric Brandt Endowed Professorship

Already renowned for her work in hair and nail diseases, Antonella Tosti, M.D., a professor in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, has been awarded the first Fredric Brandt Endowed Professorship. The $1 million professorship will enable Tosti to continue her research and education in dermatology.

“I’m incredibly honored to have been given this wonderful opportunity to continue doing important work in the field of dermatology, while at the same time helping to commemorate and preserve the legacy of Dr. Brandt,” said Tosti.

Fredric Brandt, M.D., completed his residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and taught medical students for many years. Brandt, who died in 2015, went on to become one of the industry’s leading expert in dermatology. The professorship was created to further his legacy in teaching, skin care innovation and anti-aging research.

Tosti is the author of nearly 700 scientific papers. She developed dermoscopy for the diagnosis and care of hair diseases and has shared her knowledge with experts around the globe, making her the perfect example of someone who can uphold the standard of Brandt and honor his work, according to Stephane Colleu, president and CEO of dr. brandt skincare.

“I have spent my life trying to make people happier by treating hair loss and alopecia,” Tosti said. “I love the idea of representing Dr. Fredric Brandt when I attend conferences and lectures in the more than 20 different countries I visit each year.”

The professorship is funded by The Dr. Brandt Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in partnership with The Miami Foundation.
