Help Support Stethoscopes for Students

As a medical student, husband, and father, Jeremy Freedman frequently finds himself short of time and money. So when the University of Miami Miller School Medical Alumni Association (MAA) surprised him with his very own stethoscope as part of its “Stethoscopes for Students” initiative, Freedman recognized it as the precious gift that it was.

Jeremy Freedman, M.D. candidate, Class of 2019, and his Miller-branded stethoscope.

“It is such an incredibly warm way to start my medical career, especially coming from alumni,” he said.

Now in its third year, “Stethoscopes for Students” provides incoming medical students with new, Miller-branded stethoscope to help welcome them into the medical profession.

Through May, the MAA is asking alumni and faculty to help support the program, which is now working to provide stethoscopes for the incoming students in the Class of 2021.

Stethoscopes are one of the most enduring symbols of the medical profession, and students who receive this particular gift forge an instant connection with the school, faculty, and alumni.

Freedman is looking forward to the day when he can welcome the next generation of physicians into the Miller School, in the same way.

“Absolutely,” Freedman said. “I can’t wait to make someone feel the way I felt when I received my stethoscope.”

The MAA invites you to support students like Jeremy. Donate today toward a stethoscope for the Miller School’s #Canefunder campaign.
