Dr. Judy Schaechter Named American Heart Association Go Red For Women South Florida Chair

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association has announced that Judy Schaechter, M.D., M.B.A., professor and chair of pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, is the chair of the Greater Miami 2018-2019 Go Red For Women campaign. Schaechter is the George E. Batchelor Endowed Chair in Child Health, and chief of service for Holtz Children’s Hospital at UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Schaechter leads a distinguished faculty and staff composed of physicians, scientists, and pediatric specialists across all disciplines, ensuring that children in South Florida and beyond have the opportunity to live full and healthy lives.

“It is an honor to support the Go Red For Women movement and help raise awareness on the issue of women and heart disease,” said Schaechter. “By doing so, we aim to change the way women and families care for their heart health and encourage them to take preventative steps towards reducing their risk of heart disease and stroke.”

Schaechter is supported by the Go Red For Women’s Circle of Red Chair, Donna E. Shalala, Trustee Professor of Political Science at the University of Miami, where she was president from 2001 to 2015. The Greater Miami/Fort Lauderdale Circle of Red is part of the Go Red For Women movement, composed of community leaders dedicated to saving more lives, advocating for women’s health, and driving local support to fund critical research.
